Rosa’s Birthday

This just in from Yvonne, our own very special Australian correspondent (her blog can be found here).
“I was standing in the queue and spotted this list clutched in the fist of the shopper ahead of me. I made her an offer she couldn’t refuse (you don’t want to know), and I became the proud owner of the list.
It was at the Coles Supermarket, Myrtleford. Cheers!”

There are many points of interest here, it does indeed to appear to be Rosa’s Birthday and Rosa’s will be getting a scarf and card at least – maybe some eggs too? I am not sure if the carpet cleaner is for her.

The ‘Spray and Wipe’ is not a brand we have in the UK, a quick Google shows this: Colgate Ajax Spray n Wipe

Now, about the wire wool… The list so far is pretty typical with the usual mix of food stuff and cleaning bits, but wire wool? This is a strange addition, maybe a little too strange as the author hastily crossed it off the list shortly after adding it.

The note paper is is great with tea and cakes shown, the handwriting is female.

Many thanks Yvonne, what did you have to promise to get your hands on this list? Whatever it was, it is much appreciated.

Eggs Rosa, Money, cucumber, potatoes, red onions, cos lettuce, cream x 2, bacon, deodorant, spinach, vanilla, mushrooms, coffee beans, washing power, toilet cleaner, spray n wipe, toilet things, steel wool, dishwasher cleaner, b’day card Rosa, scarf for Rosa, preen carpet cleaner.

Mum, I Snapped Your Hairbrush

Here’s a good one.  The front of the list is great, strange use of ‘z’ for plurals and a few unknowns but it is the back of the list that stands out – scroll down!

How nice.  I hope Mum was happy with the replacement and the kind note.

Salad, fruit, veg, pots, onions, cereal, rice krispies, cheese, ham, t bags, cake, crisps, choc bars, bread, ???, mayo, ???, tuna tinned?, tinned beanz?, tinned toms, eggs, passatta, cheese sauce, bubble bath, golden syrup, juice, butter, t rolls, k rolls, pasta, kidney beanz, stock pots, plenty of ale?

Maris Piper

She wrote Maris Piper, he was confused or thought she was too pernickety and appended ‘spuds’? Different hand?

What else is happening here? A roast? A pickling session? Making chutney?

Maris piper spuds, veg, cauliflower cheese, vinegar, smoked streaky bacon, bag sugar, Yorkshires.

Split Peas

What are these numbers?  This list was found by Steve and he thinks they could be a running total of the prices.

What else do we know?  This list was taken from a spiral bound notepad which has been cut vertically.  The list was written by more that one person, compare BLACK BAGS with Bananas, not only capitalisation but also a difference in the Bs.

This person is a crosser offer.  They have bought no meat, a vegetarian?  Actually there is some ham near the end.

The addition of the newspaper on the list suggest a weekly newspaper rather than a daily.  This fits as Steve found the list on a Sunday

Milk, choc spread, sweet pots, pots, frozen fruit, fruit, toms, orange juice, newspaper, black bags, bananas, rice, shampoo, sensodyne, shower gel, cheese, ham, split peas, shampoo.

Lucky Dog

img_1973

The one thing that is essential, and should be put on the list first, is a sieving spoon. Second priority is some executive food for the dog.  Once everything has been purchased, Hello magazine and a lottery ticket should be bought.

There are a few items here which are unclear.  Any help is appreciated.

Sieving spoon, dog paté, dog mince, cheese, yoghurts, veg all, T bags, lemonade, cereal bars, ?, gress?, tomatoes, potatoes, frozen mixed veg, frozen fish, bread, Hello, lottery.

Dolly Bics

Nice list with the basics.  Some points of interest however, Dolly Bics?  Is Dolly a dog do we think?  These are underlined so important.

Also, is the last line trainers?  Maybe not as these would be a strange purchase at Morrisons.

Eggs, milk, fish, toms, veg, quiche, jacket pot, batter mix, W U Liq, Dolly Bics, Trainers?

Two Big Yoghurts

No meat here.  Mainly fruit and veg.  Not much to make whole meals, pasta, rice etc.

This person really likes their numbers but ironically is not a fan of plurals. 4 grapefruit, 2 big yoghurt etc.

A decent list on traditional paper representing a rounded, 5 a day, diet.

Small banana, small satsuma, grape, lettuce, peppers, tomatoes x 2, onions red, sweet potatoes, potato x 2, 2 big yoghurt, 1 bread, peanut butter, olives, two lemonade, 4 grapefruit, 1 milk.

Kindly found and supplied by Andy.
