Porridge

Standard list of staples. Bread, milk, butter, cheese etc. interesting the items are grouped into categories. Biscuits appear twice.

Ruled paper has rounded corners on the left hand side and slight tear marks on the right, suggesting it has been torn from a note book.

Tittles – The Dots on Letters i and j

Some people, instead of using a simple dot above the Latin letters i and j, use full blown circles. The owner of this list was one of those people.

Did you know, this tiny, little superscript dot has a name? It is called a tittle.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tittle

The tittle on milk is nearly a heart. The tittles on high juice are just the start of circles. The tittles on Pinot Grigio are more fully formed. The tittle on veggie burgers is an ambitious galaxy of a swirl.

Berries & Chicken Pie

Written on a torn off rectangle from an insurance company letter, there is some small print on the reverse.

I am not sure what the horizontal line represents here. It is not likely to be different shops or days.

Happy Rabbits Shopping List

3 Items. Balsamic glaze for a salad. Beetroot and cold coffee.

Custard Pots II

Found with its counterpart ‘custard pots’ at Morrisons in Bridport, U.K., this list is in the same hand, on the back of a betting slip but intertwined with a Waitrose receipt for items listed.

Some items are duplicated from the first list but also included are two tins of baked beans, Kellogg’s Fruit and Fibre and some ‘ready baked’ potatoes.

Black biro on lined paper ripped from a spiral bound note pad.

A standard list with regular items, milk, eggs, bread etc. A nod to the season though, with the addition of cranberry sauce.

Reverse Advent

This list is from Livingstone in Scotland where it was used for a reverse advent calendar.

To explain what a reverse advent calendar is:

Firstly you need to grab a basket or box, and every day leading up to Christmas, add something useful to the box.

The idea is that you add 24 items just like an advent calendar.

Then you can donate it to a food bank, a family in need or your church.

A reverse advent calendar is perfect to do as a group too. You can put the box in your classroom, workplace or do it as a larger family group and take turns at adding to it.https://www.muminthemadhouse.com/reverse-advent-calendar/

Please take some time to see if there is a similar scheme running locally to you at this time of the year, or make a cash donation to your local food bank if you can.

Thanks LadyMissB20

LadyMissB20 has kindly found and shared the below list.  This is one of two to be published.

She says, “I couldn’t believe my luck when I saw my first list but to find a second so soon after was amazing! I saw it folded up and picked it up and took it away without even looking at it, as the security guard was already looking at me oddly for the time I was taking at the self-service checkout!”

The coke, crisps, and bag of ice suggests items for a party, maybe a children’s party. The Dairy milk could be part of that too.

Pineapple and 2 lots of macaroni don’t fit in to the party theme, although the pineapple could be used a la 1970’s with chunks of pineapple and cheese on cocktail sticks and stuck into an orange!
