Pacific North West, USA

This is the first list on www.theshoppinglists.com from the United States.  Woo!

The list was very kindly donated by Rockie from Portland, Oregan.  My guess is that this is a top up shop rather than a large weekly visit.  Items on the menu for the next couple of days could include a salad with lettuce, cucumber? Maybe some Mexican food with the rice, beans and salsa and bagels with cream cheese for lunch?

I had never heard of Mr Stubbs and his BBQ sauce before so here is more info for those who are interested: http://www.stubbsbbq.com/

Apparently, “This is the real deal, the original.  And its tangy tomato, vinegar, molasses and black pepper are gonna treat you right.”

Rockie has great handwriting but in case you need help making it out, the items are:

Salad, Olive Oil, Dish soap, Potatoes, Bread, Peanut Butter, Bagels / Cheese, Lettuce, Doritos, Rice, Beans, Salsa, Lunch Meat, Carrots, Cucumber, Mr Stubbs BBQ

The food was purchased from Fred Meyer here https://www.fredmeyer.com/stores/details/701/00040

Any questions and comments are welcome!

Mum, I Snapped Your Hairbrush

Here’s a good one.  The front of the list is great, strange use of ‘z’ for plurals and a few unknowns but it is the back of the list that stands out – scroll down!

Salad, fruit, veg, pots, onions, cereal, rice krispies, cheese, ham, t bags, cake, crisps, choc bars, bread, ???, mayo, ???, tuna tinned?, tinned beanz?, tinned toms, eggs, passatta, cheese sauce, bubble bath, golden syrup, juice, butter, t rolls, k rolls, pasta, kidney beanz, stock pots, plenty of ale?

Three Cucumbers!

img_1975

Three cucumbers!  Nobody buys three cucumbers!  Maybe this hard working mum is also catering for the local cricket club and making sandwiches for the home and away teams.  That may explain why 3 loaves of bread and 9 bottles of squash are required. Actually the cricket season has finished here so there must be something else going on.

Lots of fruit and veg which is good to see but also lots of kiddie friendly meat products, chicken fingers, hot dog sausages, burgers and of course who could ignore the turkey jetti:

yeti

Lettuce, tomatoes, veg, mushrooms, apples, peppers, spring onions, cucumber x 3, bread x 3, squash x 9, noodles, chili sauce, paste, peas, gravy, hot dog sausages, milk, chick ham, butter, yoghurt, nappies, washing up liquid, crisps, water x 2, kids cartons, biscuits, crackers, deorant, shampoo, buble bath, burgers (kids), chick fingers, turkey jetti, belly pork, mince, roast meat, 4 meals.

Pink Biscuits

Interesting one, a home cooker here with the mince, ham joint and other bits that need preparation. Any ideas what a pink biscuit is?

Pink biscuit, raisins, milk x 2, cheese, bananas, Aba bread?, honey, roast beef, veg, ham joint, mince, mozzarella, srut?, chip and dip, beer, throat sweets.

The consensus is that this is what the pink biscuits relates to:

Great Hand Writing

Firstly, what great writing.

This list, I presume is for two people, maybe code named D and W? There is some mixture of upper and lower case writing and the common grocer’s apostrophe.

Crisps, beer, wine, D|ginger, bread, D|W|Tablets, oxo’s, chicken oxo’s, washing liquid, fruit, veg, curry sauce, rice.

In answer to the question, what is Oxo:

Illustrated Shopping List

Wow, what a list. These people eat well with a variety of ingredients to make meals from around the world. They have a cat and children. The illustrations are great, I particularly like the little bird perched next to the cat biscuits. Lots of help from the children to make this shopping list.

A Pink List: Spagbol Sauce

Good to see such a pink pink. Here goes:

Nacho crisps, bacon, onion, dip – salsa, spagbol sauce, mince, tomato purée, pasta, pet food, cleaner spray, wipes, garlic bread, carpet cleaner.
Certainly bolognese on the menu.  This is pretty much a one meal shopping list with a few other bits thrown in.

Cryptolist

This is all perfectly clear, the list reads: Soup, fogultunt?, cereal, pomegranate, bhasumiss?, rocket, rinpoos?, kitchen roll, cats, boats?, crisps/nuts.

They say that the most intelligent have hard to read hand writing, for example doctors, and indeed Einstein:

Turkey Rashers

Squared paper, a blue biro, dots after each word.

Are those apostrophes to be seen in the plurals; eggs, rashers and chillis?

The shopping list: 6 Eggs, shampoo, shower gel, bacon, turkey rashers, biscuits, crisps, brown sauce, crushed chillies.
