Beanie Fish

Wow, where to begin?  There is so much to say here.  Please use the comments section freely to explain what this is all about.

Firstly, what are the numbers 124 and 485 relating to?

Is it Liah who provided £20, £40, £20 for Kentucky Fried Chicken?  Is it actually Leah or have I misread this?

What are ‘true you test strips’?

WHAT IS A BEANIE FISH???

This list was written in two sittings.

125 £20, £40, £20 from Liah for KFC, sml milk | weetabix 485, 3 muller corners, bread, 2 macoroni cheese, jam, 2 irish stew, marmalade, 6 B Bars, sm mini choc rolls, true you test strips, 3 cheap gaviscon, not sure on the next bit, 1 basics orange juice, 2 cat treats, beanie fish, 2 drinks Lynne & me. £50.

Blue Eggs – Southampton Old Lady

This list was very kindly supplied by SouthamptonOldLady who has also provided the insight below.
You can check out her great blog at:

https://southamptonoldlady.wordpress.com/

Bread, milk eggs, meat for stew – crossed out, steaks, double cream, blue eggs (trendy tinted ones?), cauliflower or/and broccoli, pointed peppers, a bottle of Merlot wine, 5-6 pots of heather (lovingly doodled).

Perhaps we can guess that this list is for a posh, romantic dinner at home for two, then a bit of gardening at the weekend. The ‘meat for stew’ has been crossed off – so perhaps at the last minute they have been informed that they will be on their own for the weekend and suddenly changed the menu?

Pink Biscuits

Interesting one, a home cooker here with the mince, ham joint and other bits that need preparation. Any ideas what a pink biscuit is?

Pink biscuit, raisins, milk x 2, cheese, bananas, Aba bread?, honey, roast beef, veg, ham joint, mince, mozzarella, srut?, chip and dip, beer, throat sweets.

The consensus is that this is what the pink biscuits relates to:

All the way from… Comox, BC, Canada

So much to say here.

  1. What great note paper.
  2. The ingredients for a classic paella.  Hola paella.  This is a one meal shopping list belonging to somebody who enjoys cooking and probably goes shopping often through the week rather than doing one large weekly shop.
  3. What is app?? Apples or something a bit more high tech?
  4. Last but not least, this is now the third continental contribution to TheShoppingLists.com Many thanks to Yvonne’s’ niece in Comox, British Columbia, Canada.  We now have lists from the UK, Australia and Canada.

Hi Yvonne, or Yvonne’s niece, could you let me know in which shop this list was used?

Dinner: chicken, shrimp, chorizo, onion, Spanish white rice or arborio, saffron, mussels, pimento, bread, garlic, app??, lemon.

Illustrated Shopping List

Wow, what a list. These people eat well with a variety of ingredients to make meals from around the world. They have a cat and children. The illustrations are great, I particularly like the little bird perched next to the cat biscuits. Lots of help from the children to make this shopping list.

Fruit, bread | rolls | bagels, Dolmio sauce x 2, Lasagne sauce and sheets, Appals x 100,000, chicken pieces, chicken breast and thigh, mince x 3, sausages x 2, bananas x 54, cod pieces, kids bits, cat biscuits, scampy fries x 2, cheese, homs?/meats, coconut milk, grated cheese, mozzarella, halloumi, sour cream, taco shells, mange tout, baby something, cucumber, chillis, tomatoes, salad, avocados, olives, coriander, onions, mushrooms, peppers and “by a chinees takeaway for cata” [sic].

On the reverse is soy sauce, garlic, ginger and comfort.

BBQ = Food

I believe this is a man’s list. Clues are the shaving foam, newspaper and BBQ items. I could be wrong.

Do they work at Scrivens who appear to be an opticians not far from the Aldi where this list was discovered. Web link here:

Scrivens
Items are: BBQ fuel, bread, crisp, dinners, pots, BBC = food, oil, mouthwash, toothpaste, shaving cream, paper, veg, jam.

Whisky + American

This shopping list owner likes detail, 2 bananas precisely, “Kellogg’s”cereal rather than just cereal, “Ryvita Rye Crispbreads” when Ryvita would have sufficed.  In fact I think this list was written for somebody else to do the shopping, the numbers and brands are instructions.

Does whisky and American mean whisky and whiskey?

Tomatoes, Mediterranean vegetables x 1, strawberries, apples, bananas x 2, salmon x 1, sweet potatoes, milk, small red milk, bleach, rinse aid, kitchen rolls, bread, lime cordial, still water, Kellogg’s fruit and fibre (purple pack), Ryvita rye crispbreads, whisky + American.

Hob Work

Eggs, hob work???, fruit and veg, dinners, bread, milk.

What is hob work?

A standard small shopping list, bread, milk, eggs etc.  The ‘dinners’ imply that they will not be made from scratch.

Tiny Pork Pies

Bread, salad stuff, baguette, cheese, marmite, sausage rolls, tiny pork pies, Kellogg’s, bacon, toilet rolls, salt and rinse, lager.

Unusual to see Kellogg’s written a brand, rather than the cereal type.

What is salt + rinse?  Is it this? Colgate salt rinse

There are no obvious meals to be cooked here.
